Outback Station Adventure
Whether you want to get down and dirty whilst helping with the mustering or you just simply want to watch the action- the Outback Station Adventure allows you to do all this and much more on one of the largest cattle stations in Queensland. This is a place where the sun beats down on action and excitement. Somewhere you can experience some of the most spectacular and remote, rough and untamed country in Australias outback.
This one million acre property (or four thousand square kilometers) truly is one of Mt Isas unspoiled regions. As one of the largest cattle stations in outback Queensland, the station runs between 10 to 15 thousand head of cattle. The land is spectacular; its huge, rugged and beautiful. You can join the stockmen for a muster on horseback, 4WD, motorbike or helicopter and you can also venture down to the stockyards to see all the action first hand including the drafting and branding of cattle. Add to that four- wheel drive adventures across rough terrain.
Tours range from 1, 2, 3, to 4 days and cater for 1 to 4 people (children included if supervised by an adult). Accommodation and all meals will be provided at the homestead. Tours run from March/April to October depending on the weather.
A typical days itinerary and some experiences youll have include:
- Taking an early breakfast with the cowboys.
- Heading out with them on their daily activities and participating if you like, in mustering cattle by horseback, 4WD, motorbikes or helicopter.
- Seeing first hand cowboys on horseback and motorbikes work with the helicopter to bring large mobs of cattle together, herd them and push them towards the cattleyards, which could be several miles away.
- Drafting and branding of cattle (once settled), with cattle going to market trucked away. When the yard work is complete the cattle will be returned to their grazing paddocks.
- At the end of the day, after a nice shower everyone can take it easy, have a few drinks and talk with the cowboys back at the homestead.
